The boys and I drove up to Camp Darby Friday afternoon to attend a Camporee for Cub Scouts. It was a beautiful 51/2hrs drive, and very scenic. As we approached Tuscany the clouds were rolling in, and it didn't look like we were gong to have a dry weekend for camping. When we reached Camp Darby it was Raining pretty hard, and thundering and lightning. Since the weather was so bad, they put us up in the Gym. The boys thought that was cool, I was just wondering if I was going to get any sleep, I didn't, but they did pretty good! The next day, it was still raining , but did manage to show us a double rainbow for a couple of minutes. The boys still got in all their activities, even under the bad conditions. Then around 1pm, it stopped raining, and then after closing ceremony, we drove up to Marina Di Pisa. It is the beach area west of Pisa, and man it was beautiful. We managed to get a room @ the Sea Pines lodge for the night, so we could be rested to see Pisa the next morning before heading home to Naples. The boys and I really enjoyed Pisa, it was really cool, even though it was extra crowded because they were having Race to The Tower that morning.
The boys got to shoot BB guns, learned how to cook in a Dutch Oven, learned about Geocaching, and did a craft. Great time at the Camporee....
That night it was still raining, so I got us a room @ the Sea Pines Lodge ( I'm getting soft in my older age), and we all slept like babies, especially after those HOT showers. This is good because the next day we were getting up early to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Pisa was awesome, the boys really enjoyed it, and they actually had some fun sight seeing.
